On November 21, Senior S.R.L. was the protagonist of an important moment of discussion in Milan. Indeed, CEO Ivan Allevi was among the speakers at the technical-scientific meeting organized by PCA Technologies, titled “Environmental Monitoring. Case Studies and Future Perspectives,” which was held at the prestigious Palazzo Castiglioni.
The presentation, titled «IoT + AI in the Real World: from Smart Assistants to Electronic Noses — New Frontiers for Monitoring and Interacting with Systems», explored how the integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing industrial, infrastructural, and environmental contexts—critical topics for the development of strategic technologies.

Technology Focus: Sensory Digital Twins for Industry 5.0
The speech highlighted Senior S.R.L.’s role in Research and Development, with a particular focus on advanced monitoring applications and the enablement of Sensory Digital Twins.
“In an increasingly interconnected era, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) merge to create innovative scenarios: intelligent voice assistants for asset management, 24/7 monitoring agents, and advanced sensory devices such as ‘electronic noses.’ These systems represent the backbone of a true digital transformation.”
It was illustrated how AI, integrated into Senior’s proprietary IoT systems, enables advanced control of installations—from voice command to the continuous analysis of operational parameters for predictive maintenance.
An aspect of great interest was the application of olfactory technologies (e-nose) as intelligent nodes in the IoT network. These “electronic noses” can detect and analyze anomalies, odor emissions, or critical operating conditions, transforming complex data into immediate decisions for optimization and operational safety.

Architectures and Future Challenges: The Role of Edge Computing
The presentation also touched upon the more technical and architectural aspects, which are fundamental to ensuring the reliability and scalability required by the critical technology market:
● Edge/Cloud Architectures: The importance of processing data directly on the device (Edge Computing) to reduce latency, improve system responsiveness, and optimize bandwidth usage. This is crucial for real-time monitoring applications.
● Recognition Algorithms: How AI is trained to accurately identify anomaly patterns and anticipate mechanical failures or environmental hazards.
● Integration Challenges: Data security, interoperability between heterogeneous systems, and managing latency in distributed and complex systems.

Participation in this national-level event confirmed Senior S.R.L.’s positioning as a strategic partner in technological innovation and a key player in the development of solutions that integrate IoT and AI, bringing R&D excellence from the laboratory to field application..
