SHELFMATE Project no. F/360074/01/X75 – CUP B49J24000150005

Project overview

SHELFMATE is a research and development project aimed at creating an innovative platform for monitoring food quality and freshness throughout the supply chain. The solution combines an electronic nose, artificial intelligence algorithms, blockchain technology and a virtual reality e-commerce application to ensure traceability, food safety and transparency of information. The project aims to reduce food waste, improve quality control management and support circular economy models in the agri-food sector.

Objectives and expected results

The project will enable the development of an industrial prototype capable of automatically assessing food freshness using smart sensors and machine learning algorithms, recording data on a blockchain to ensure integrity and traceability. The main expected results include the development of the Shelfmate system, improved food safety, reduced waste and environmental footprint, reliable information for all supply chain participants, and the introduction of innovative digital tools for marketing food products.
