Sustainable Investments 4.0 call – PN RIC 2021–2027

Project overview

The investment project aims to establish a new production area at the Benevento operating site, dedicated to developing and producing digital twins: digital replicas of real objects, products, devices and environments that can be used for design, simulation, testing and remote management.

The initiative builds on the technological expertise the company has already developed in IoT sensing, 3D modelling, and virtual and augmented reality applications. The programme includes the acquisition of hardware equipment, VR/AR headsets, graphics workstations, 3D scanners, 3D printers, and an integrated suite of software, cloud platforms and tools based on artificial intelligence, blockchain and monitoring systems.

The new production area will support a complete workflow, from creating 3D assets to simulating and testing digital twins, through to integration with mini IoT gateways that connect the virtual environment to physical devices. Digital solutions are also planned for order management, production progress monitoring, predictive maintenance and technical support.

Project objectives

The main objective is to turn the expertise and prototypes already developed by SENIOR into an established production capability, supporting the company's technological and digital transition and entry into new markets, including tourism, smart cities and industrial applications.

Specifically, the project aims to:

  • Innovate the production process by introducing advanced digital tools for product design, simulation and testing.
  • Improve efficiency and quality by integrating digital twins, IoT devices, cloud platforms and artificial intelligence systems.
  • Optimise order management, ensuring greater traceability of production activities, supplier coordination and process control.
  • Reduce environmental impact by limiting the production of physical prototypes, material waste and energy consumption.
  • Strengthen the company's competitiveness by expanding its range of technological products and services and creating the conditions for revenue growth and the recruitment of two new team members.

Expected results

The programme will provide SENIOR S.r.l. with a new integrated production infrastructure for creating digital twins and digitally managing the entire development and testing cycle.

The main expected results include reduced prototyping time and costs, the ability to run simulations under conditions that are difficult to reproduce with physical prototypes, and improved product reliability through remote monitoring and predictive maintenance.

In environmental terms, the project aims to reduce waste through 3D printing of components and to limit raw material and energy consumption by partially replacing physical prototypes with virtual models. The plan also estimates a reduction in returns from 5% to 1% thanks to the cloud platform, and a 12% increase in the company's digital maturity level.

Overall, the investment aims to consolidate SENIOR S.r.l.'s technological positioning, facilitate access to new market segments and develop a more efficient, flexible and sustainable production model.
